As the owner
and creator
of this
Chihuahua
dogs site I
have the
right to
voice my
opinion on
various
issues. I
have many,
but will
devote this
page to an
issue close
to my heart.
America is one of the richest, most
technologically advanced nations in the world, yet every year
thousands of dogs and cats are put to death or meet horrible, tragic
ends to their lives due to
overpopulation. The most
common cause of this needless, senseless slaughter of innocent lives
is due to simple human ignorance.
I have heard all
your excuses and rationalizations for not neutering or spaying your
pets which you profess to love so deeply, but none of them have the
interests of the animals at heart.
For instance,
there's the mother who wants to let her children experience the
"miracle of birth" by allowing the newly acquired pet cat to have
just one litter.
Three months later the first little miracle is found near death in
the road because it was allowed to roam free. Mom now has to explain
the "horror of death"! The other three little miracles weren't so
lucky...one wandered into the nearby woods where it slowly starved
to death. The second ended up at a nearby university's animal
laboratory where it lived a long and unhappy life having makeup
tested on it's eyes. The third kitten couldn't be found a new home
so it was allowed to start the whole vicious cycle of birth, death
and inhumane treatment all over again. (she was quite prolific...her
first of many litters produced six kittens!)
When you decide to
have a pet, you decide it's fate.
If you truly care you will neuter or spay your pet. I have listed
organizations at the bottom of this page devoted to this subject.
They offer help and solutions around the world.
If your reluctance is simply about
the cost, then call your local
Humane Society
or animal shelter and find out when they offer their neuter/spay
clinic or which local veterinarians provide their services for a
reduced fee. This is a world-wide problem that you can do something
about and make a real difference!
